Awami League has no constitutional right to hold power: Mirza Fakhrul

Mirza Fakhrul said in the speech of the chief guest at the liberation war rally in front of the central office of BNP today on March 25, 2024, that Awami League has no moral right to be in power, no dictatorial constitutional right, they have seized power by pressing the chest of the people. BNP Vice Chairman Major Hafiz Uddin presided over the meeting. In this meeting, he signaled the boycott of Indian goods with the banner-festoon of the boycott of Indian goods. At the main gate of the stage three posters were written boycotting Indian goods. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said these things in the presence of BNP's liberation war leaders and after their speech as the chief guest.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that even after 52 years of liberation war, the people of Bangladesh have lost their freedom. Today, if the people of Bangladesh want to speak the truth, they give Facebook posts, even if they speak in a hint, they are arrested, not given bail. No one can speak against them (the government) or even speak the truth. During this time, he paid deep respect to the heroic children of the liberation war and paid deep respect to Ziaur Rahman, the herald of independence. He clarified about the constitution and said that the constitution which was made in 1972 clearly mentions that the people are the owners of Bangladesh but unfortunately our people of Bangladesh have lost that ownership. Now the people of Bangladesh have been stripped of their right to vote. We (BNP) have been struggling for democracy for many years and we want to change this situation. He said that in 1975 they (Awami League) had established one-party rule in the country. Our leader Deshnetri Begum Khaledazia arranged for a democracy in the country with elections under a neutral non-partisan government. There have been four elections in this system and no one has talked about that election. They changed it when they came to power to repeat one-party rule. They have made all institutions their own. They (Awami) elected by themselves in 2014, in 2018 they did a very planned polling day at night. This time they elected themselves in a different way where people did not even participate. They themselves elected with dummy candidates that no one accepted, neither the people of Bangladesh nor the foreigners. They (Awami League) today have introduced one-party rule in disguise which is worse than the Bakshal of 1975. They are one on the face and different on the inside. He also said that the movement of democracy against a tyrannical fascist government is not so easy but we have continued that struggle for 15 years under the leadership of our leader Tariq Rahman and country leader Begum Khaledazia. We have lost many of our brothers in the last two years also we have lost 22 lives on the road and 648 people are missing. Thousands of leaders and activists have been arrested without any crime, millions of leaders and activists have been made homeless with false cases, many of them are fleeing to the forests and paddy fields for their lives. For no reason the common people especially the village people have to suffer like this just for a fair election and democracy we are living in a subjugated country today. He urged everyone to fight again like the liberation war to restore the country's democracy.
